Gamenight in Corvallis

And what a wonderful night it was.

Did I mention how freaking GOOD it is to have college football season upon us? (Yes, I think that I did yesterday.) Anyway, college football games are so rad. Everything about them is just cool. The drive, the pre-game, college girls walking around campus, the actual game, college girls that are walking around at the game, the sweet smell of victory, post game excitement, and college girls walking back to their dorms after the game. I just love it all so much.

So I left work about 3:45, which was actually perfect timing. I was going to meet my dad after his dentist appointment, and then we were going to drive down together. Which was good, because it was rush hour and I get really mad when driving in rush hour. Seriously, I get mad. Like I am usually a pretty cool dude, and I go with the flow and stuff. Not in rush hour. If you just mention rush hour to me, I might give you a dirty look. I can't help it. So luckily, my dad was going to make the drive. It was funny though, you should have heard me. I wasn't even driving, but I was still yelling at all the other drivers. My dad was just chuckling the whole time, because it was pretty pathetic. But hey, this is how I am while driving in rush hour traffic.

So anyway, we make good time to Corvallis. We didn't really make good time IN Corvallis, however. Once we got there, it took a long freaking time to find a parking spot. I guess it pays to have no life or no job and get to the stadium really really early. I'm thinkin next time me and my dad will try going to a game jobless and see how it works out. So after going up and down five or six streets of jammed packed parking, we found a church with extra parking space, paid them our $8 and parked. So the parking battle was over. And can I just say....eight dollars people?!? Really?? I don't think that's very Christian do you? Anyway, moving on...

Finally we got to our seats. Gotta give credit to my Dad. We were in the second row, corner of the end zone. They were great seats for what we paid for them. So we sit down and the very first thing I notice was the HUGE scoreboard. Not just big, huge.

Not sure if you can tell just how big that thing is, but it is practically as wide (the actual screen part) as about two sections of seating. They say it's the largest jumbo-tron in the Pac-10. It was really nice though, for when the ball was on the other side of the field from us. We could just look up and see everything that was happening, in what seemed like hi-def clearness.

So the Utes open up the game by scoring first. Stupid friggin Utah. This happened because of a really crappy throw that our QB made. Actually it was a perfect throw, just to the wrong team. So yeah, totally OSU's fault on that one. My mind began to wander back to the last time I went to an OSU game, and they lost (were thrashed) to Cal. (My dad and I actually left at halftime because we were getting beat so bad.) I thought that we could be in for a long game here.

But to my surprise, the Beavers struck back. And did they ever. After some more shady, if not just straight up crappy, quarterback play, Yvenson Bernard bailed us out. And proceeded to take over the game. The guy just doesn't like to get tackled. That was the first of the two touchdowns that he scored last night.

After that Utah lost their starting QB to a separated shoulder. After that it was pretty much a breeze. The Beavers threw for a TD and Bernard scored another one. Oh and there was a FG from Alexis Serna thrown in there somewhere. Mid-4th quarter the score was 24-7, Beavers winning.

So the Beavers won 24-7, and here's a pic of my dad and me (the matching shirts are pretty awesome huh?). I feel bad for those poor Utah fans sitting next to me. They were lonely. They talked a little trash when the Utes were the first team to score, but after that they were REAL lonely. That's what they get for buying seats in an OSU section though.

So nothing really funny or crazy happened. No brawls or fights. I guess the Utah coach was pissed because he thought we were running up the score, but that's about it for drama. That's life Mr. Utah coach dude. You know you would have done the same thing if we were in Salt Lake City.

The only two negatives to the whole game was the LONG drive home and some dude farting something bad at the game. Seriously it was one of those farts where you just know it came from a fat guy. It was that bad. Anyway, it was a good day all around.
