Well it's Friday, finally. And to celebrate, Minka Kelly joins us. Wow. Just, wow. Anyway, here's a few stories that are on our mind.
- Jon Heyman says that the Red Sox are the main winners from baseball's winter meetings. When choosing sides between the Sox and the Yanks, we will always choose Boston. And good for them, going out and getting a couple of much needed bats. Nabbing Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez should get them back into the playoffs this coming season, after missing the boat this past season. But all of these 6 and 7 year contracts for ungodly amounts of money are rediculous.
- Cam Newton's dad will not be attending the Heisman Trophy ceremony this weekend in New York. We're glad to see Cecil Newton finally come to his senses a little in this whole investigation mess. We've got nothing personal against Cam Newton, but we think we'll be talking about a potential Reggie Bush situation a few years from now, where Newton is going to lose his Heisman Trophy. Call us crazy...
- The Texas Rangers have increased their offer(s) to free agent pitcher Cliff Lee. Unfortunately, this story has been told. Cliff Lee is going to end up signing with the New York Yankees, people. It seems as though the Yankees always get their man. They just shove stacks of money down their throats until the player can't breathe anymore. Personally, we wish players would stop saying to the public "Hey, we really love it here and want to stay" or "It's not about the money" and act like they're staying with the smaller market, not-as-wealthy team, and then pick the Yankees and the money in the end. It bugs the hell outta me.
- Blazers have put together a nice few games here recently. We still think that a big time trade needs to happen to kick-start this team into performing at their peak again. But for now, they're riding a nice little winning streak. Wesley Matthews has been an absolute life-saver, especially lately. Lots of people questioned paying him how much he got. I bet everyone's glad they paid the money to get him in the offseason.
- According to Forbes magazine, LeBron was the most underpaid player in the NBA last season. This seems like a really dumb thing to say, but I guess they've come up with some fancy way of calculating how much a single player contributes to their teams actual wins and losses. You can come at me with lots of different formulas, but I don't believe it. When they come up with a fancy formula to calculate how much of a giant douchebag LeBron is, then give me a call.
