A Double Dose of Football Picks

So I'm watching the replay of the Arizona State v. USC game on ESPN. USC won today 44-24. Getting the win kept USC in the hunt for the Pac 10 title and a chance to play in the Rose Bowl. Pretty amazing considering USC was written off after losing to Oregon a few weeks ago.

I can see it now, everyone is going to use this game as proof that Arizona State was a complete fraud and that the Pac 10 must not be that good because the top team keeps losing. And like I said last week (about Arizona beating Oregon), this doesn't mean that Arizona State has fooled us into thinking that they are a great team -- and they really aren't.

I think games like this show that the Pac 10 has two or three quality teams, and they had to play each other at some point.

Anyway, I've decided to get back into making my picks every week until the end of the season. To save time, I am going to combine my college and NFL picks all in one post. It's twice the enjoyment for you, my loyal fans. And to add even more for your reading enjoyment, I'm going to to pick an extra game for each.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS:

(17) Boise State at (14) Hawaii
This game is being called biggest in the history of the WAC. They don't have many big games, so I would agree with that statement. Boise is playing extremely well right now, but Hawaii gets them at home. Hawaii wins 44-39.

(8) Virginia Tech at (16) Virginia
We're not sure how Virginia has reached this high of a ranking. They sorta snuck up on us. But they're 9-2, which means that we can't hate on them too much. Hokies haven't played very consistently all year long. Virginia wins this one 24-17.

Utah at (23) BYU
This is one of the greatest rivalries in the country, even though the teams come from the weak Mountain West conference. Side note -- I still hate Utah fans from a game I attended about 4 years ago. Anyway, last year this game ended on one of the greatest last second plays I've ever watched. This one will be close again, BYU edges Utah 31-29.

(3) Missouri at (2) Kansas
Hopefully I can catch some of this game. We're rooting for Missouri to pull the upset so that the BCS title picture gets a little more cloudy. Gotta love end-of-the-year BCS confusion. This time of the year wouldn't be complete without it. Missouri wins it 49-45.

NFL PICKS:

Denver at Chicago
Both teams are horribly mediocre, but I have to pick one of the games right? If I was betting money on this game I would take the Broncos. Remember, Chicago is starting Rex Grossman once again. Broncos win 17-9.

Houston at Cleveland
I think Derek Anderson is for real, and I'm happy for him. I am thinking that the Browns make the playoffs, even though they've struggled as of late. I've got Jamal Lewis on my fantasy team, so I hope whenever they get close to the end zone, they run the ball in. Cleveland wins 38-23.

San Francisco at Arizona
I would venture to say there are about 4 people who care about this game in the country. I am not one of the four. The Niners are playing so ugly, it's fugly. They are a bunch of jerks. And they suck. Arizona ain't much better, but they will receive a moral boost from Matt Leinart's good looks. Arizona wins 24-10.

Philadelphia at New England
I heard Sean Salisbury say that the Patriots would probably beat the Eagles by at least 30 pts. I say by at least 40. In fact, this is going to get ugly. Without McNabb the Eagles don't have a prayer. New England wins 97-3.
