Match Report: Portland 34, Valley 5

It's been a couple weeks since I've posted a match report, but here you go.

The Pigs are now 3-1-1. They have beat ORSU, Tacoma, and Valley. They have lost only to Snake River, who are like the New England Patriots of our league (undefeated so far). And they tied a couple weeks back with a newly-formed team called the Tsunamis, 12-12. Portland is sitting in 2nd place in the league, with only one game left on the fall schedule. Pretty good spot to be in.

It's actually a spot that I have never seen us in, since I've started playing rugby. Keeping with the NFL analogy, we are the Cleveland Browns of our league. Really bad for the past ten years or so, but starting to not suck so much. When I started, we weren't that great and we played with a lot of heart. Now we're 5-3 and just beat the Seahawks. Well, not really, but you get my drift. Point is: we're a whole lot better now, and it's a really good feeling.

So here is the match report and some more pics.

Both teams opened up play tight and hard with Valley putting the mass of the pressure on, a great goal line stance by the home side denied Valley the opening points.. Portland then turn the mid portion of the 1st half into a running burst of points scoring a couple of great supportive tries..half time saw the home side up 24 -0...

The second half was good with Valley shutting down the open run from Portland, not before they added a couple of more tries to the total, on the final whistle Valley crossed the line for a well deserved try...fun game....
