Yesterday my day consisted of waking up late, eating lunch and spending the entire day in the hospital making sure my little nephew was going to be alright.
It's not like I didn't want to be there with my nephew all day, it was just a long day. But I did manage to watch a lot of college football. Here are a few things that come to mind about yesterday.
1. Can we stop talking about the Big East now? Can we finally stop talking about how "good" these teams are? First it was Rutgers with all the hype from last year, then it was South Florida ranked #2 and how they were getting no respect, then it was Connecticut possibly running the table in the Big East. Well Connecticut got beat up by Cincinnati 27-3 yesterday. And it wasn't like Cincinnati lucked out or anything. It was an old fashioned blowout from the start. So I guess Connecticut wasn't really THAT good after all. West Virginia is the only real good team in the Big East, and the rest of the conference is dog meat.
2. Seeing "the ohio state" lose made my whole day. Well, besides finding out my nephew was going to be okay. We watched the end of the game in the hospital room. They were beat at home and by an unranked Illinois team. So much for cruising into next week's Michigan game with national title hopes, huh? On the bright side, at least they were exposed before they got to the national title game this year. Maybe this year we'll have two legitimate teams in the title game. And by legitimate, I mean any team except Kansas.

3. In the Oregon State-Washington game, the refs tried to give away the game to the Huskies and almost got away with it. It was one of the most obvious miss calls I have ever seen in my days of watching college football. How can the refs not automatically stop the game when Beavers running back appears to have fumbled on the goal line? As you can see from the pic above, there was no chance that it was really a fumble. The thing that pissed me off, is that they didn't even stop the game to take a look at it. If you ask me, fumbling on the goal line with two and a half minutes left in the game is sorta an important play. Maybe that's just me though.
4. Boy, Kansas sure looks good right now. They haven't even come close to losing once this season, I don't think. That says a lot. I am not 100% sold on them yet though. I hate to be a party pooper, but I can't believe in Kansas fully until they beat Missouri and then beat Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game. Call me crazy, but I don't see that happening.
5. I really hope that my LSU-Oregon title game prediction comes true. This way, LSU coach Les Miles is going to have a first hand look at how "easy" USC's path to the national championship was for them this season. What was that, Les? That game last week was real tough one? The one where you played Louisiana Tech? Uhhh yeah. I am sure it was a real test for the guys. Try shutting your mouth about how easy USC's schedule is when you're scheduling Louisiana Tech at home in the middle of November.
6. Honestly, who schedules Louisiana Tech (3-3 in the WAC mind you) at home in the middle of November?? I guess LSU does.

7. Although Hawaii's schedule is complete garbage, I think if they go undefeated they deserve to be in a BCS bowl. Think Boise State making the Fiesta Bowl last year. Although I thought it was foolish to have Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl, they proved everyone wrong. And they deserved to be there. So with all that in mind, I think Hawaii should be given the same shot, if they go unbeaten.
I'm sad that the weekend is ending, but the Ben Harper concert is tomorrow nite, so I will be posting about that adventure in the next couple days. Later y'all.
