Movie Review: Vantage Point

Went to see a movie with the boys last night. We were going to go for Owen Wilson's new one Drillbit Taylor, but we thought it may be one of those shows where, all too often, all the remotely funny parts are showed in the trailer. And there is still lots of time to catch Drillbit Taylor, so Vantage Point it was.

I am not what you would call a huge "movie-goer" by any means. But whenever I decide I want to see a certain movie, I always think about what I've heard about the movie. Rarely have I just walked into a cinema without ever hearing an opinion of whatever movie it is that I'm about to see. But you see, I prefer it that way. I saw Untraceable that way. No prior opinions. None of the "it wasn't the greatest" comments. Just the movie. And Untraceable ended up being pretty decent if you ask me.

Anyway, Vantage Point was really good. I can't really talk about the storyline, because that would make it rather pointless to actually go and watch it or rent it when it comes to DVD. But it was a movie to make you think. I found myself wanting to know what was going on faster than they were giving me the knowledge. I think that makes a movie pretty good. When you are trying to guess what's going to happen next or what effect the scene you just saw is going to have on the rest of the movie, that's a mark of a good movie in my mind.

There were plenty of twists. Some of it was pretty predictable. There is such thing as a movie with too many twists. Some movies do this and make it way too confusing. The amount of twists in Vantage Point was pretty right on if you ask me.

The only negative: No hot chicks. But it gets only a minor ding for that.

Overall rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars.
