My Fantasy Baseball MVP After Day One: Matt Capps of the Pittsburgh Pirates

Gosh, I really love Matt Capps. I drafted him in the 17th round, which is like, a total steal. I have a feeling that Matt Capps will be a very important part of my teams fantasy baseball title that I plan on winning. See him there in that photo above? He's getting a handshake from his pitching coach. You know why? Because he is just a really awesome guy, that's why. I mean, everyone loves this guy. They just gotta.

With that said, I just would like to take a minute this fine morning and thank Mr. Capps for his outstanding performance last night against the Atlanta Braves. Look, I usually don't make such a big deal after only one day of playing baseball, but this deserves some friggin recognition people. Last night, the Pirates beat the Braves in extra innings, 12-11. And from the looks of it, it was an edge-of-your-seat crazy game.

Bottom of the 9th, Pirates leading 9-4. Two men on base. One out. Here is what happened after my boy, the one-and-only Matty Capps, came into the game:

- M. Capps relieved D. Marte
- M. Prado walked, M. Kotsay to third, R. Gotay to second
- Y. Escobar walked, M. Kotsay scored, R. Gotay to third, M. Prado to second
- C. Jones singled to right, R. Gotay and M. Prado scored, Y. Escobar to third
- M. Teixeira flied out to center
- B. McCann singled to center, C. Jones and Y. Escobar scored
- J. Francoeur flied out to center

5 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors
Pittsburgh 9, Atlanta 9

MATT CAPPS ERA AFTER ONE GAME AND 0.2 INNINGS OF WORK: 40.50
