Man hockey really pisses me off sometimes. When the playoffs first started, I was fully intent on watching* at least 5 games (which would be 3 full games more than I've watched up to this point in my entire life). But the NHL has sorta let me down. I was planning on following Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals roll through the playoffs to win it all. Sadly, Ovechkin and the Caps got beat in the first round by the Flyers.
When is the NHL going to start learning that to gain more casual fans, you've gotta start rigging the outcomes of playoff games?? I mean, the NBA already has it mastered. Tell me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Celtics, marketing "God-send" of the NBA this season, somehow still alive? See? The NBA knows how to get it done. LeBron James and all others be damned.
But all that griping aside, we have the Penguins and Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals. I suppose the NHL sorta is in good shape, since they still have Sidney Crosby and the Penguins still in the hunt. Luckily, there is some star power still on the ice. I will be rooting for the Pens to win it all. It's not like I really care who wins, but I just really hate the Detroit Red Wings. I hate them for a plethora of reasons, but mainly because those people in Detroit who follow the Red Wings actually think hockey still matters. And also, they are equivalent to the San Antonio Spurs in my book. I just want somebody--scratch that, anybody to beat them.
I know nothing of hockey, but I thought this was a good write up about the upcoming showdown between the Red Wings and Penguins.
(* In actuality, I have only watch ONE single game and I will be watching none of the remaining games unless they are on NBC on the weekends. This is due to the utter retarted-ness of the channel that is known as Versus Network.)
