Good ol' Hedon't Turkoglu |
This game didn't sound like it was very pretty, but the important thing is that it got the job done. And at this point in the season, and starting out a tough 4-game road trip to the East coast, getting the win was really all you can ask for.
As for the stats, LaMarcus Aldridge had a quality game with 24 points on 10-18 shooting. Marcus Camby went scoreless, but he pulled down 10 rebounds. And Gerald Wallace had a solid 9 points and 10 rebounds for the Blazers.
After the game, a columnist for the Orlando Sentinel quoted an unnamed Magic player as saying, "If we have Dwight, we blow them out." Yeah, maybe that's true. But Dwight Howard's technical-foul-compiling ass wasn't there and you didn't have him. So deal with it, unnamed Orlando Magic player. And zip the lip, alright? I hate when players and teams make that excuse. It's the ultimate copout.
I also like how Stan Van Gundy says that his team outplayed Portland in every facet of the game, but the 19 turnovers killed them. His exact quote was actually, ""We were a little bit better than them in every area, but we had 19 turnovers and they had nine." Well, that's kind of a dumb thing to say. That's like saying, "Well, we played better than them in all areas of the game -- oh except we didn't score more points than them."
Yeah well scoring more points than the other team is kind of the point of basketball. Anyway, Blazers got the win and everything in the world is great. That is, until tonight. We'll see how that goes a little later.
