No, not that McLovin. Different one. For those of you who listen to the Dan Patrick show at all, you know McLovin. One of the reasons I'm posting about a mock draft for NEXT year is that it's McLovin's fine journalistic work, and we can all make fun of how wrong he was when the real draft finally rolls around. He thought Ryan Mallett would go number one overall in this past draft, for crap's sake.
And the other reason is, hey, there's always room for a mock draft alright? I mean, they create entire websites about these things, people. They're of the utmost importance.
Looking up and down the list, I've only heard of 4-5 of these guys. Andrew Luck, Justin Blackmon, Matt Barkley, Landry Jones, Cliff Harris, and Trent Richardson. And that's about it. The rest of them, I couldn't pick out of a lineup if my life depended on it. That doesn't really say anything, seeing as I'm not a college football analyst by trade or anything. I'm sure after watching this next season of college football, I'll be better equipped to know who's good and who's not. Let's face it though, no one really cares about offensive lineman and what they look like.
Here are McLovin's top 10, along with the teams in the order he thinks they'll be drafting:
1. Buffalo -- QB Andrew Luck, Stanford
2. Carolina -- WR Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State
3. Cleveland -- QB Landry Jones, Oklahoma
4. Tennessee -- DE Quinton Coples, North Carolina
5. Seattle -- QB Matt Barkley, USC
6. Denver -- OT Matt Kalil, USC
7. Cincinnati -- OT Riley Reiff, Iowa
8. Oakland -- CB Dre Kirkpatrick, Alabama
9. Minnesota -- OT Jonathan Martin, Stanford
10. Washington -- DT Jared Crick, Nebraska
For Duck fans, McLovin has CB Cliff Harris going 11th overall to the Dallas Cowboys. He calls Harris "a young Terence Newman." Right now, it's virtually impossible to know what team will be picking in the 11th spot, but it'll be insteresting to watch the movement of Harris' draft stock throughout the upcoming college football season.
If there's any storyline that I'm already interested in, it's seeing how thoroughly the "experts" and "analysts" can pick apart every single facet of Andrew Luck's life between now and next April. Is there any chance of Andrew Luck falling out of the top spot? McLovin says that "other than injury, the only possibility he'll fall is if the bar is set too high and experts pick him apart." So I guess there is a chance he'll fall. The odds aren't very high though.

The scenario that I hope plays out (for the entertainment value alone) is for the Panthers to suck it up again and get the number one pick, and see if they even think about picking a QB number one overall two years in a row! That'd be nuts. Right now, I'm 99% sure that they wouldn't even consider drafting Luck, but hey, you never know. Maybe they won't be completely sold on what Cam Newton can do for them. If there is one ounce of doubt about Newton, can they afford not to take a gander at Luck? It would be interesting, you have to admit.
Here is a 2012 mock draft that The Big Lead put up a couple days ago, if mock drafts are your kind of thing.
