After The Dust Settles, Chip Kelly Is Still The Coach Of The Oregon Ducks. But How Long Will He Stay in Eugene?

So last night was pretty fun, right?  It was pretty crazy, that's for sure.  For a while there, I was certain that ol' Chippie was gone.  Done deal.  Signed, sealed and delivered.  Right?  Well, no.  Crisis adverted.  Duck fans could stop freaking out, like you know they were.

Like only Charles Kelly can, he ball-faked the sh!t out of all of us, and left us looking foolish like every poor defensive end that has played against Oregon.

But when I woke up this morning, and heard that Charles Kelly had decided to stay at Oregon, I wasn't surprised in the least.  I saw the news scrolling across the bottom line as I was watching SportsCenter this morning and all I could say was "Nice one, Chip.  Nice one."

Would Chip Kelly Be A Good Fit With The Indianapolis Colts?

Yesterday, Isaac and Suke brought up an article written by NFL Network's Michael Lombardi.  It was this article and it's Lombardi pretty much making the case that the Colts should sit down and take a long, hard look at Oregon's Chip Kelly to fill their current coaching void.

After Isaac and Suke got done talking about it, I headed over to NFL.com and read through it myself.  The first thing that jumped out at me was one of the comments at the end of the article.  Someone called Leajones99 wrote that basically, Lombardi's article was nonsense and in regards to Coach Kelly, "we like him here in Eugene, and there's no way he would move out of paradise for Indianapolis."

Excuse me?  Paradise?  Real quick, this isn't going to morph into a "crazy, delusional Duck fan" post (I promise!), but let me say a couple of things.

Randy Edsall Calls Maryland His 'Dream Job' And He Was Being Completely Serious

Yesterday morning, former UConn football coach Randy Edsall was introduced as the new coach at Maryland.

I didn't (and don't really still) care much about this story except for a couple of things that stuck out to me.  One, how hard I was laughing after reading that Maryland is Edsall's "dream job."  And two, he pulled a real d-bag move in the way he left UConn.

First of all, about the dream job part.  Okay, this dude probably called the UConn coaching job his dream job, I just can't find the transcript from that press conference.  I'm sorry to say that even though he waxed poetic about growing up and going to Maryland football games with his dad and brother (blah, blah, blah), that I don't believe Maryland is his dream job.

Hypothetically, let's say Edsall coaches at Maryland for 4 years, with average to good results.  And the head coach position opens up at Texas or Oklahoma, and they want him and hire him.  Done deal, okay.  I would easily bet two month's salary (not very much, but that's not the point) that at the first press conference, Randy Edsall calls said job his "dream job."

I mean c'mon guy.  Seriously?  You're going to drop "dream job" on us?  Athletes and coaches say crap like that all the time.  It means nothing.  These days, mentioning the phrase "dream job" has become part of the standard script for an athlete's or coach's opening press conference.

The other thing that really bugged me is how Edsall left town.  After getting smoked by Oklahoma 48-20 in the Fiesta Bowl, Randy Edsall didn't even get on the SAME PLANE AS HIS PLAYERS for the trip home.  No, he boarded a private jet and was on his way to Maryland to his big new fancy job.

What a punka** move.  His players have a right to be pissed off about it too.  They all signed up to play for him at UConn, and he didn't tell any of his players that he was leaving in person.  He told his team that he was bailing on them on a freaking conference call.

You stay classy, Randy Edsall.
