So Manny Was Being Manny. Big Deal.

So I am sitting here on a somewhat boring and pleasantly relaxing Saturday afternoon. Watching the Red Sox play the White Sox on FOX.
And boy are the Red Sox having a field day against the White Sox. It's 13-0 right now in the 8th inning and I can just see Ozzie Guillen fuming because the Red Sox are pretty much running up the score. But out of all the managers in baseball, Ozzie deserves to be pounded like this. He just never shuts up, seems like.

But anyway, the announcers (Joe Girardi & some no name guy) start talking about "Manny being Manny". (For info on what exactly "Manny being Manny" is, go here.) They started talking about this after he almost botched an outfield throw to home plate that could have cost a run for the team. Then they begin talking about his whole "Rastafarian look" and laid back attitude and how it could "work against him" so to speak. His dreads are so big that his hat popped off when he was making this throw to home plate.

Ummmm ok. So what?

I have been following the Red Sox as my team for quite a few years now. And yes, it was way before 2004 thank you very much. (By the way, I just love it when a Yankees fan accuses me of jumping on the Sox bandwagon because they're good. Like that isn't EXACTLY what the case is for 80-90% of Yankees fans out there.) So for all the years I've been a Sox fan...Manny has always "been Manny" at least once during the season. It's just like death and taxes. It's a sure thing. It's going to happen.
So I was thinking about what Manny does for the team, even when "Manny is being Manny". Turns out he is pretty dang good. And if this is what Manny does when he is "being Manny", I do not mind it one bit. Continue on Manny.
And that's all I got for tonight.
