Pac-10 Will Need Some Respect After This

I think that is the understatement of the year.

I just got home, turned on the TV and had to smile. There was Oregon putting the BEAT DOWN on Michigan. It's no secret that Oregon had a chance, but 39-7? Wow. And in the Big House of all places. I wonder what kind of job security Lloyd Carr has now. Michigan has started 0-2 for the first time since 1958 or something like that.

Unfortunately for me, this means that my picking Michigan to finish #2 in the country is never ever going to come close to happening. But I really don't mind that much. I don't know of anyone that could have said Michigan would start 0-2, and not be deemed crazy for saying it.

Anyway, this is huge for the Pac-10. I really don't like to get caught up in battles over which conferences are better than others, but this is really good for the Pac-10. Now maybe people will shut up about the Big East being so much better than the Pac-10 just because Cincinnati beat Oregon State. And yes, I am still upset about the loss. I'm tellin ya, the conferences usually even out. This kind of stuff proves my point.

I am no Oregon fan by any means, but today was pretty awesome for the guys from Eugene.

Couple of other things about today in college football...

1. Ok I have no clue who the bloody hell Western Kentucky is or why the even have a football team (see the pic and laugh) there, but they are beating West Virginia Tech (isn't one Virginia tech school enough?) right now 87-0. And yes, they are still playing. I think now would be a good time to maybe call the mercy rule and end the game. Also, maybe now is a good time to cancel the football program at West Virginia Tech. For some reason, I don't think it's working well for them. I just get that feeling, call me crazy...

2. I was correct in my picking Oklahoma over Miami, but never saw OU smoking the Hurricanes like they did. 51-13?!? Surprised me. Maybe they are deserving to be #5 in the country after all. Who knew?
