Let me tell you all, I'm excited for this weekend in football. I can't remember the last time I actually went somewhere to watch a football game or made a point to sit down and watch an entire football game. I just haven't had the chance.
I hope tomorrow is different. I want to actually relax and just watch some football.
Even if I don't get to take in all of the games tomorrow night, I am still very interested to see what will transpire. Usually I only care about if the Patriots win or not, and that's it. But tomorrow's games are going to be pretty good.
So here is how I see this weekend's games shaping up.
Jacksonville at New England: Okay, so the Patriots are my team (have been for years by the way) and so this pick is going to seem very homer-ish. Sue me. But it's not like picking the Patriots to win tomorrow is a dumb pick by any means.
During the season, when the Patriots went 16-0, there was only one game that I worried about. It was the Pittsburgh game. This is the other game I worry about. I am not scared that the Patriots are terribly overmatched or that they aren't playing very well at the moment, nothing like that. I just believe that the Jaguars, out of most teams in the league, will be able to give the Pats a run for the money.
The Jags are a great rushing team. In most of the Patriots games that I watched all year long, stopping the run was their biggest weakness. But on the flipside, the only way I believe that Jacksonville wins this game, is if they outscore the Pats.
And that most likely will not be happening. I'll take New England, 35-20.
Seattle at Green Bay: I really hope that the weather cooperates for this game. If it's windy and no one can throw the ball, I don't think I'll be able to sit through this game and not go crazy. What can I say, I like to see teams score during a game.
The X factor in this game is what Seattle Seahawks team shows up to play. Is it going to be the team that just beat Washington 35-14 last week, or will it be the team that lost to Carolina during the season 10-13? It's going to be the key to the whole game.
Now this season, Green Bay isn't exactly a pushover of a team. I don't even think they're very overrated, like some experts have said. I think Brett Favre is great. I think their team is playing very well. I think if they played the Dallas Cowboys today, the Packers win. With that said, they are a very young team with virtually no playoff experience, not counting Brett Favre.
I like the Packers, and if they get up on the Seahawks early, I think it'll be hard for Seattle to play catchup against the Packers secondary. But I have a feeling that won't happen. This game could be a good old fashioned shootout. Seattle wins 44-34.
